Alder, James. "Brett Favre". About.com. March 28, 2010 <http://football.about.com/od/nationalfootballleague/p/brettfavre.htm>.
Summary: This article talks about Brett Favre’s college career. Out of high school, Brett Favre was not highly recruited. He was offered one scholarship, which was from Southern Mississippi. Brett was originally supposed to play defensive back but was later moved to quarterback after the coaches saw how strong his arm was. He ended up being the starting quarterback his freshmen year and led his team to a 6-4 record. Brett ended the season passing for 1,264 yards, 15 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions. By Brett’s sophomore season, a new coach was hired and he implemented a “pro-style” offense in which Brett did very well in. There was some talk about Brett being a Heisman Trophy candidate prior to his senior season. However, just weeks before the start of that season, Brett was involved in a car accident that resulted in 30 inches of small intestine having to be removed. But Brett showed his toughness by taking the field 3 weeks later and getting the upset win over Alabama.
Evaluation: This article seems to be written in a more formal style than informal style. It gives a lot of good information and good facts. The article did not really seem to be bias. It seemed to just state facts and give stats rather than just put Brett Favre in a good light. It was quite informative and will help in writing our profile.
Application: This article will be very useful in writing our Brett Favre profile. It gave a lot of good information while also keeping the article short. This will help in finding the useful information easier later on. The article not only gave out statistics for Brett Favre’s college career, but also gave stories of his career. This will be very useful for the actual writing part of the profile. Having just statistics would not be very useful in the writing of the profile.

Gaughan, Mark. "Favre's great supporting cast gives him a boost". The Buffalo News. December 19, 2009 <http://www.buffalonews.com/2009/11/29/876627/favres-great-supporting- cast-gives.html>.

Summary: This article talks about the great supporting cast Favre had to work with last year in Minnesota. It talks about Favre not having to carry so much of load due to having one of the best run games in the league. Adrian Peterson really lightens the load for Favre on offense. The article also talks about the Vikings good defense helping Favre out. Having a good defense to fall back on means Favre does not have to go for the end zone every single possession. The article draws comparisons to Favre’s 1996 Packers team. They too had a good running game and good defense. The 1996 team ended up winning the Super Bowl.
Evaluation: This article also seemed to be written in a formal style. No biases were really seen. Mostly facts were talked about and examples were being drawn upon. The article also included specific statistics from the current season the article was describing. It seemed to be well written and the author really seemed to know what he was talking about and was well informed of current football and also the history of the game. Overall, I think it was a well written article.
Application: This article should be pretty useful in writing out profile. I was hoping to find a piece that included many of the people who helped Favre out in his career but I could not find one. Using this article, however, will help explain Favre’s success while being so old and should also help show why Favre coming back for another year was not a bad idea. The key facts and statistics the article included will help in writing the profile. There was a lot of good information that I believe will help to make the profile very informative.

Clark, Matt. "Brett Favre: Hero or villain?." Christian Science Monitor 25 Jan. 2010: 1. Academic Search Premier. EBSCO. Web. 29 Mar. 2010.

Summary: This article tells you about what people thought of him when he decided to join the Vikings. It tells you how some people bashed him and others praised him. It also gives out a brief overview of his accomplishments while being a Viking. A big thing they hit on is the disappointing interception pass he made in the playoffs against the Saints. How people bashed talk him saying he is the reason why the Vikings lost but they say it was a team effort.
Evaluation: This article was very formal. But you can defiantly tell there is bias in this article with sticking up for Favre and also has their own opinions in the story. It is very well written and was very easy to follow and gave me insight at what people really thought about Favre when he joined the Vikings and also during the playoff game.
Application: This article with help us get the views of the fans. It will let us know how they felt when he joined the Vikings and also what people thought if him when he was playing. This will be very helpful to me and the group in our research.

Robinson, Charles. "Favre officially vilified in Green Bay". Yahoo Sports. August 18, 2010. March 29,2010 http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=cr-favrereaction081809

Summary: This article talks about the reaction Packers fans had when they found out Brett Favre had signed with the Minnesota Vikings. It tells you that Favre said "If you're a true Packers fan, you understand." It gives you a response of a Packer fan named Ron that said "I’m 54 years old. I’ve been a Packers fan since I was 5, which is when I knew what the Packers were. I got my picture taken with Bart Starr when I was 12. I’m a true Packers fan. Maybe a true Packers player would understand how I feel." It surprising what some people said about Brett Favre.
Evaluation: This article is very bias. It interviews people that live in Wisconsin and what they think of Brett Favre signing with the Minnesota Vikings. It is very well written and has very good word choice. It was good that the writer had used people's quotes rather than his own in this article.
Application: This article will help us better understand what peolpe were thinking when this whole ordeal happened and what they think about him after this. How some people feel betrayed and others understand on the reasoning why he went to the vikings. It will give us quotes that we can use in out paper and show people's thoughts. It also had some quotes that came from Brett himself which will greatly make out paper creditable.

Hartman, Sid. “Favre’s speech following father’s death stands out most to Bevell.” Star Tribune. 6 Mar. 2008. 29 Mar. 2010 http://www.startribune.com/sports/vikings/16320781.html
Summary: This article was wriiten by Sid Hartman dealing with a speech that Brett Favre gave following his father’s death. The article talks about Darrell Bevell who has spent several years coaching Brett Favre and hearing several of Favre’s talks but one sticks out above all. The article also goes into talk about how Favre still goes on and plays a great game that weekend and dedicated it to his father.
Evaluation: This article was written in March 6, 2008 and published in the Star Tribune. Hartman does a great job with this article talking about Favre’s speech to the team and how he dealt with his father’s death to be ready to play next night. Through that Hartman shares Favre’s mental toughness that you need to play not only in the game but to play a great game.
Application: This article by Sid Hartman sharing the story about Brett Favre and his father’s death will be a great help to my group. This article shows Favre’s toughness and how he regroups himself to be ready to play the night after his father’s death will be a great addition and story to add to our profile. This article will also have good quotes made by Darrell Bevell that should fit in the profile.

Evans, Tim. "Brett Favre- The Person". brettfavre.com. March 30, 2010 <http://www.brettfavre.com/person.php>.
Summary: Brett Favre was born October 10, 1969 in Gulfport, Mississippi. He grew up in Hancock Country in the small town of Kiln, Mississippi. It was a very small town with no paved roads or stop lights. Brett played football and baseball at Hancock North Central High School where he lettered in baseball five times and also lead his team in batting all five seasons. He also lettered in football three times and played both offense and defense. Brett was also the punter and place kicker. Even though Brett’s father Irvin Favre was the coach of his high school football team, he still did not really let Brett pass too much because his father like to stick to his game plan of running the football. Brett’s father had to get recruiters to come to his games and eventually Brett got one scholarship offer from Southern Mississippi.
Evaluation: This article did not really seem to be written very formally. It tended to use slang words when describing Brett Favre’s life and also his toughness. The article also seemed to be bias in favor or Brett Favre. You can tell this by the name of the website that is called brettfavre.com. Pretty much only positive things were discussed in regards to Brett. The article only seemed to want to reflect on his talents and toughness rather than any downsides to him. Although it was quite bias, it did seem to have a lot of useful information in it.
Application: This article should prove to be useful in the writing of Brett Favre’s profile. It should help give some insight into what his life was like before he entered the college ranks and also the pros. It helped bring his toughness into the light and also his overall athletic ability. It also described how and where he was raised as a child which let the reader know why Brett Favre is the way he is today. Overall, I believe this article should prove to be very useful for writing our profile.

Favre, Deanna. "Don't Bet Against Me." Tyndale House Publishers. 2007. http://files.tyndale.com/thpdata/FirstChapters/978-1-4143-1907-0.pdf
Summary: This is a book written by Deanna who is Brett Favre's wife. Deanna Favre relates her struggles with her husband's drug addiction, their early years of marriage, raising a family in the NFL and her breast cancer. Also how her actions gave Brett the strength to continue his football career while she was fighting breast cancer.
Evaluation: This book will help us a lot with our paper on Brett Favre. It gives us the view point of his wife who is in his life every day and sees a lot of stuff the public may never see or get to hear about. She really knows who Brett Favre is and what he has gone through in his life. The book i think was very well written and really gave me a good picture on what he went through and also what she went through of fighting breast cancer and also how it is to be a NFL players wife.
Application: This will help us get the side if the wife since most people look at it from Brett's view. Also coming from a very creditable source helps us out with knowing it is true and not just made up. I think this will strengthen our paper up very well and give us some very good and well needed information on Brett Favre and his family.
